Engineering Manager - Ketton Cement Plant
Reporting to: Plant Manager
40 Hours per week
Purpose of the Role
As a key member of the Ketton site senior management team, the Engineering Manager provides strategic, managerial, and technical leadership across all engineering disciplines-mechanical, electrical, and maintenance. The role is pivotal in driving engineering excellence, sustainability, and reliability across the site, while ensuring compliance with Heidelberg Materials' standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Site Performance
* Drive sustained improvement in plant reliability and performance.
* Lead long-term maintenance planning and execution.
* Develop and deliver the maintenance-related Capex plan.
* Promote innovation, digitisation, and best practices in engineering.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Champion Health & Safety culture through Visible Felt Leadership.
* Maintain and update Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and compliance documentation.
* Lead Root Cause Analyses for departmental incidents and accidents.
* Ensure compliance with IMS procedures (e.g., pressure vessels, structural surveys, Electricity at Work).
Budget & Cost Control
* Set and manage the maintenance budget and re-forecasts.
* Monitor and report budget variances.
* Ensure cost-effective maintenance operations and adherence to financial targets.
Maintenance & Reliability
* Lead mechanical, electrical, and MCC teams to deliver safe, reliable infrastructure.
* Implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
* Ensure successful planning and execution of annual shutdowns.
* Drive digitisation and innovation to reduce maintenance costs and improve reliability.
Stores & SAP Management
* Manage Stores value, strategic spares, and MRP processes.
* Maintain SAP accuracy and spare part availability.
* Develop plans to optimise Stores value and inventory control.
People Leadership
* Set departmental goals and conduct performance evaluations.
* Maintain a formal skills matrix and conduct annual training needs analysis.
* Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Capital Projects
* Provide technical evaluations and prepare capital papers.
* Support the management of the plant's capital budget and project execution.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* HND or preferably a university degree in Engineering or related field.
* Extensive engineering experience in cement manufacturing or similar heavy industry.
* Proven leadership in managing complex teams and engineering functions.
* Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
* NEBOSH certificate and active participation in site safety initiatives.
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Project) and SAP.
* Familiarity with CAD software for mechanical/electrical design.
