A client within the Public Sector based in Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their Human Resources Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a Health and Safety environment. The Role The key purpose of the role is to provide a professional and effective Health and Safety support service, acting as the Council’s competent person for Health and Safety and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Developing, implementing and monitoring corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures. • Providing expert advice to management, directors, and staff on all matters related to Health and Safety legislation and compliance. • Supporting housing maintenance and management services, including advice on building and tenant safety and responding to resident enquiries. • Managing the Council’s risk assessment process, conducting inspections and audits, and undertaking complex risk assessments where required. • Leading investigations into major incidents and ensuring accurate recording and reporting, including RIDDOR submissions. • Delivering in-house Health and Safety training and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across all services. • Preparing reports, monitoring performance indicators, and recommending practical improvements in health and safety management. The Candidate To be considered for this role, you will require: • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent). • Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent). • Proven experience providing Health and Safety advice in a multi-disciplined organisation. The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation and best practice, particularly within housing and construction. • Excellent communication, problem-solving and influencing skills. • Ability to identify hazards, assess risks and develop effective safe systems of work. • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport. The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £28 per hour PAYE ).
