Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.
Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Network Security Engineer to support our client, in a critical migration project from a cloud-based proxy solution (Netskope) to an on-premise proxy infrastructure with deep technical expertise in proxy technologies, a solid security mindset, and familiarity with automation practices to come and join the team.
You'll join our excellent team, based in the London area on an initial 6-month contract, inside IR35, with scope to extend. Requiring 2 days a week in our client's HQ in the Tottenham Court Road area.
What you'll be doing:
* Leading the migration from a cloud proxy (Netskope) to an on-premise proxy solution.
* Designing and implementing proxy policies that ensure secure, scalable, and efficient traffic control.
* Configuring and managing advanced features such as SSL inspection, re-termination, web sockets, and custom policy creation
* Ensuring granular control over web traffic and enforcing enterprise security standards.
* Providing strategic guidance on multi-product proxy environments, identifying potential compatibility or integration challenges.
* Supporting automation of policy deployment and configuration tasks where feasible.
* Working with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
* Conducting testing and validation of the new proxy infrastructure before go-live.
* Monitoring and troubleshooting proxy-related issues during and after the transition.
* Providing technical documentation and knowledge transfer to client teams.
What you'll bring:
* Proven history in enterprise-level proxy technologies, including cloud and on-premise solutions, including large-scale migration projects involving critical infrastructure
* Strong understanding of multi-product environments in the proxy/security space.
* Expertise in configuring and managing web sockets, SSL inspection, and policy creation.
* Hands-on experience with traffic retermination, deep packet inspection, and encrypted traffic analysis.
* Awareness of automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting).
* A strong security mindset, with familiarity in threat detection, data protection, and compliance.
* Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
