We are seeking an experienced and professional Electrical and Electronic Engineer to join the CUE Robotics Team at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working alongside experts in robotics and automation.
FTE: 1 (35 hours per week)
Term: Fixed for 36 months.
This position will play a key role in a small team developing novel automated inspection systems for the UK’s next-generation submarine fleet, focusing on the inspection of structural components, tanks, and pipework. We are looking for a candidate with substantial professional engineering experience (including working to standards) to complement the research strengths of the existing team. You will act as the electrical engineering lead, helping to shape project direction and ensure successful delivery.
To be considered, you should hold a Master’s degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification, and possess significant professional experience. A proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects, with hands-on expertise in systems engineering, design and fabrication, system integration, project management, and technical documentation is required. The role involves regular travel to partner sites for meetings and demonstrations; therefore, applicants must be willing and able to travel. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous, as the position involves frequent travel to our industrial partner sites, some of which are not well served by public transport.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for an initial period of three years, with the potential for extension subject to future funding. The role is based at the University’s city centre campus in Glasgow.
