Make a Lasting Difference

At Nutrix, our Children’s Home in Newcastle is more than just a workplace – it’s a place where every smile, conversation and shared moment can help shape a young person’s future.

Are you ready to step into a role where you can genuinely change lives while leading and inspiring a dedicated team?

At Nutrix, we are committed to providing children and young people with complex needs the care, support and stability they deserve. We are currently seeking a passionate, hands‑on Deputy Manager who is motivated to help both staff and young people thrive.

We are currently preparing to open a new 3‑bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) home in Newcastle and are seeking an ambitious and committed Deputy Manager to play a key role from the very beginning.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the full start‑up journey, working alongside the Registered Manager to shape the culture, establish high standards of care, support with recruitment, and build a strong, values‑led team. You will contribute to developing systems, embedding therapeutic practice, and creating a safe, structured and nurturing environment where children can thrive from day one.

Our Ethos and Values

We believe in:

* Individuality – Every child is unique and deserves to be respected, heard and understood.
* Empowerment – Children are experts in their own lives and should be involved in decisions that affect them.
* Growth Through Guidance – We recognise that mistakes are part of learning and we promote therapeutic approaches that support rather than punish.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the service in line with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
* Plan and lead shifts, ensuring children’s needs, wishes and feelings are central to all decisions.
* Lead, motivate and inspire a dedicated care team.
* Contribute to care planning, audits and quality assurance processes to maintain high Ofsted standards.
* Participate in the on‑call manager rota and respond to out‑of‑hours calls as required.
* Create and maintain a safe, structured and nurturing home environment where young people can grow and succeed.
* Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.

About You

* NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People (or equivalent).
* Level 5 Diploma in Children, Young People & Families (or willingness to work towards).
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential childcare.
* At least 1 year’s leadership or supervisory experience within a similar setting.
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and confident leadership skills.
* Sound understanding of children’s emotional, social and educational needs.
* Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to running a residential children’s home.
* Confidence in supervising and leading a team.
* Resilience, empathy and a genuine passion for empowering young people.

What We Offer

* A values‑led, trauma‑informed working culture.
* Comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
* Clear career progression pathways, including opportunities to move into senior or management roles.
* A supportive and empathic team environment.
* Company pension scheme.
* On‑call allowance.
* The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children and young people.

Experience & Requirements

Experience:

* Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare (required).

Licence/Certification:

* Full UK driving licence (required).
* Level 3/4 qualification in Children’s Residential (required).
