The role
Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer with a background in defence or secure government environments. We require experience working with MoD security policy, including JSP440. We require strong knowledge of NCSC guidance and UK defence security standards. We need experience supporting MoD Secure by Design (SbD) projects. We require practical experience in security risk assessment and security risk treatment methodologies. We require an understanding of security control baselines and assurance processes. We need experience applying security architecture principles across integration or enterprise-scale projects. We require strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical documentation. We require candidates to be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate UK security clearance. We prefer familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF). We prefer experience supporting CHECK or penetration testing activities. Responsibilities: We support projects in understanding cyber security risks and assurance requirements. We collaborate with stakeholders to develop secure architectures and security-by-design solutions. We identify and implement proportionate security controls that deliver effective risk reduction. We produce high-quality technical security documentation and assurance artefacts. We support security investigations, meetings, and occasional customer site visits. We conduct security risk assessments and support accreditation activities within the UK defence domain. We ensure compliance with frameworks such as the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF). We plan, coordinate, or participate in CHECK and penetration testing activities. We maintain awareness of emerging cyber security threats, trends, and best practices. We contribute to secure system design from concept through to delivery across the full project lifecycle. Technologies: Support Security More: We are a highly capable Cyber Security Team supporting a major UK Ministry of Defence integrated command and control programme based in Dorset. We work alongside a 45-strong engineering and development team delivering secure, mission-critical defence systems at the highest classifications. Our programme covers systems and software design, development and integration, installation and implementation, acceptance and assurance, training, and logistics support, with all activities managed from Dorset and supporting multiple MoD customer locations across the UK. This is a full-time office-based role, five days per week, due to the security clearance level.
