Outdoor Activity Leader - Stroud, Gloucestershire
Survival Leaders are responsible for the successful delivery of our outdoor adventure programme, Ultimate Survival. They deliver a variety of bushcraft and outdoor activities, lead a team of Survival Instructors, and ensure the welfare and safety of children on-site. They act as a contact for key stakeholders including parents, staff, school representatives, and Head Office. Survival Leaders uphold company values and maintain professionalism at all times.
The role involves:
1. Preparing and delivering activities for children aged 7-14, focusing on participation, skill development, and enjoyment.
2. Managing a team of Instructors to ensure high standards of care and activity delivery.
3. Leading by example with energy and enthusiasm to inspire staff.
4. Ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Behaviour, and Safeguarding.
5. Liaising with Head Office regarding updates and issues.
6. Acting as the point of contact for parents and the host school.
7. Managing administrative duties such as sign-in/out, medical forms, staff deployment, and timetable adjustments.
8. Collaborating with staff from other programmes within the Ultimate Activity Company.
9. Handling challenges that arise during camp operations.
10. Promoting the welfare of children and ensuring high-quality childcare.
11. Exhibiting energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model.
12. Living up to the company's promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and behaving accordingly.
Minimum Requirements:
* Extensive experience in childcare and/or education settings.
* Leadership and management experience, preferably in outdoor education or childcare sectors.
* Excellent face-to-face communication and customer service skills.
* Good knowledge of bushcraft activities.
* Strong decision-making skills to react appropriately to varied situations.
* Availability to attend all required training sessions.
* Interest in a challenging, rewarding summer role to further career in childcare, teaching, or outdoor education.
Desirable Requirements:
* Experience in outdoor education, especially bushcraft.
* Paediatric First Aid Qualification (12-hour).
* Relevant NGBs or experience in archery, slacklining, canoeing, or environmental studies.
Additional hours may be required on Thursday nights (6-9PM) for Campfire Cookout, paid as overtime depending on site requirements.
