The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Manager, as Senior Quantity Surveyor you will play a crucial role in managing and controlling costs on a range of oversees projects, ensuring that all projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to assess costs, monitor progress, and ensure financial targets are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Estimation & Planning: prepare detailed cost estimates, feasibility studies, and establish budgets for proposed projects.
* Contract Management: develop tender documents, contracts, bills of quantities, and manage procurement processes.
* Cost Control & Monitoring: monitor project expenditures, ensure adherence to budgets, and provide regular financial progress reports.
* Valuation & Payment: value completed work, arrange payments, and prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
* Risk Management: identify potential risks, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and develop mitigation strategies.
* Legal & Regulatory Compliance: ensure all projects comply with relevant laws and regulations, ensure tight administration of the construction contracts.
* Sustainability & Value Engineering: promote sustainable construction practices and implement value engineering principles.
Key Requirements
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
* Instead of qualifications, experience of large-scale projects is required on both UK and bespoke Contracts with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
* 5+ Years Experience in Quantity Surveying in the Construction Industry.
* Proven experience of structural steelwork industry.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Word, Excel and Tekla software).
Package
* Package of £60k +/- say 10% dependent on experience.
* 1.30pm finishes on Fridays every week.
* Hybrid working – 3 days office based, 2 days home based.
