The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Power Systems Engineer to support our European Professional Services organization.
AspenTech's Digital Grid Management's Network Model Manager (NMM) is a high-growth area that enables electric distribution utilities to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As a Principal Power Systems Engineer working on NMM projects, you will leverage your electrical engineering expertise and software development skills to create critical integration paths across NMM solutions. You will work with distribution and transmission network data, advise utility clients on implementation, and engage with all levels of utility operations. Collaboration with AspenTech's Product and Software Development teams will be key, and you will contribute to guiding the future of NMM products. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Professional Services Europe, based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Your Impact
* Contribute to business process reviews for electric utility clients to understand current and future processes.
* Analyze contractual requirements for NMM projects to identify potential concerns.
* Perform data mapping exercises from origin sources to NMM data formats (CIM v14-17, CGMES 2.4.15, 3.0.0).
* Document requirements for data translation modules.
* Develop data translation code adhering to best software practices.
* Review data mapping and translation code for accuracy and quality.
* Conduct testing of data translation code during project implementation.
* Support sales and proposals with technical insights on utility data management requirements.
What You'll Need
* Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering; postgraduate or doctoral preferred.
* 5-10 years of relevant experience.
* Experience with CIM and CGMES standards within the electrical utility industry.
* Proficiency in Java and software development in enterprise environments.
* Experience with Git and related tools.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
* Experience with utility control systems (NMM, SCADA, EMS, GMS, DMS, OMS, DERMS).
* Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
* Customer service orientation and proactive approach.
* High integrity and commitment to quality.
* Excellent English skills; additional languages are advantageous.
