Description We have a new interim role available (12 months) for a Senior Reconciliations Analyst to join our finance shared service centre in Glasgow. As a Reconciliations Analyst, you will play a key role in overseeing the approval and accurate documentation of reconciliations within the Blackline system. Working as part of a collaborative team comprising both Onshore and Offshore members, you will provide analysis and commentary on unresolved items, investigate discrepancies, and drive timely resolutions. In this role, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for reconciliation processes, developing a deep understanding of upstream systems and workflows. A key focus will be on achieving a steady-state position with minimal aged items by implementing process improvements and automation. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for Finance colleagues across regions, addressing Business-As-Usual (BAU) issues, resolving problems, and escalating concerns when necessary to minimize impacts on financial reporting. Your role will encompass the following key areas: Balance Sheet Control: Perform analysis and reconciliation of General Ledger accounts. Collaborate with regional teams to resolve outstanding aged items promptly. Ensure compliance with Global Policy during the reconciliation approval process. Leverage the Blackline reconciliation tool to optimize processes. Partner with the Balance Sheet Management Team to address queries and resolve aged open items. Escalate unresolved issues to management as needed BPO Oversight Control: Ensure the Offshore team completes tasks within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Define and measure SLAs to align with core objectives. Support the Offshore team in improving reconciliation processes and workflows. Conduct quality assurance reviews of outsourced processes and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Foster strong working relationships through potential site visits. Cross-Training: Facilitate cross-training within the onshore team to mitigate risks associated with key person dependencies. SOX Adherence: Perform SOX controls in accordance with the latest guidelines Audit Queries: Develop expertise to address queries from the Audit and Financial Control Unit (FCU). Projects: Participate in team-related projects, including executing test scripts, conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and providing final sign-off. Process Improvements: Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements within the Reconciliation teams. Qualifications Proficient in Excel, with expertise in data manipulation, cross-tabulation, lookups, and pivot tables. Skilled in re-engineering inefficient processes to improve effectiveness. Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines consistently. Experienced in conducting analytical reviews of management information. Background in financial services or insurance is highly preferred. Familiarity with Alteryx is a plus but not essential We offer in return!
