Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £12.45 an hour; this increases to £13.66 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
It's our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work—the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We support flexibility; if your available times closely match but are not exactly the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you. Click here to read more.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. It takes many different people to run a store, and this is a job for doers, with plenty of variety. It’s a committed role, full of everyday challenges, but that’s part of what makes it exciting.
Being a colleague in our stores means helping to serve our shoppers better every day. You’ll meet great people, learn new things, and be part of a diverse, inclusive team where everyone is welcome.
Whether you seek stability, flexibility, or career progression, this role can suit you.
Note: You must be over 18 to apply.
You will be responsible for:
* Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride.
* Being knowledgeable about store products and services.
* Working across various store areas as required.
* Applying training to work safely, effectively, and deliver excellent service.
* Making customer-focused decisions and delivering store routines.
* Participating in seasonal, community, and charity events.
* Understanding store performance and contributing to sales, waste reduction, and profit.
* Handling products carefully to maintain quality.
* Living our values and following policies to make everyone feel welcome.
* Accepting deliveries as needed.
You will need:
* A passion for delivering great service with a smile.
* Ability to build rapport and make customers’ shopping trips enjoyable.
* Initiative and decision-making skills for customer benefit.
* Good teamwork and communication skills.
* Reliability, punctuality, and professional appearance.
What’s in it for you:
* Holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus personal days, rising to 22 after 12 months, plus Bank holidays.
* Flexible working requests from day one.
* Discounts including 10% off, 15% during pay weekends, and a Colleague Clubcard.
* Access to wellbeing services, life cover, pension, and various benefits.
* Uniform provided and policies supporting work-life moments.
* Access to colleague networks for support and community.
