The Centre for Science, Technology & Innovation Policy (CSTI) is an applied policy research group, based at the Institute for Manufacturing in West Cambridge. The centre's core mission focuses on advancing understanding of: 'what makes national innovation systems effective at translating science and engineering R&D knowledge into new technologies, manufacturing industries and economic value'.
CSTI is now looking for an ambitious and collaborative individual, with policy and analysis experience related to science, technology & innovation (STI) policy, to take on the role of Policy and Impact Lead and work closely with the CSTI Director to deliver high-impact, policy-focused materials and activities linked to CSTI's work. Within this role you will also be responsible for scanning key policy and practice developments, trends and initiatives related to STI policies, programmes and strategies in selected countries and communicating these to UK policymakers, agency officials and relevant public sector research communities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of policies, process or issues affecting emerging technology policy, government science & technology foresight and strategy, knowledge/technology transfer or technology/innovation and have some relevant policy engagement experience in these areas. Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills are required for this role as you will be required to work collaboratively in teams to deliver the overall strategic objectives of a project and engage effectively with senior research & innovation policy stakeholders and related officials. Additionally, you will have the ability to:
1. Produce high-quality policy/practice-focused focused reports synthesising key insights/findings from workshops, interviews and/or other secondary sources;
2. Project manage and deliver complex policy engagement and impact work programmes;
3. Contribute to the ongoing strategic development and policy impact of CSTI, working closely with CSTI's Director to deliver new opportunities for the Centre
