Overview
Environment Agency – Intelligence Technical Officer in the National Environmental Crime Unit. You will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to understand Threat, Risk and Harm and drive improved tackling of environmental offending and officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training, promoting the use and benefits of Memex, and improving the quality of intelligence submissions.
Responsibilities
* Provide face-to-face training to area staff on the Intelligence system, MEMEX.
* Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
* Create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular reports on performance and offer feedback on ways to improve performance.
* Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
* Engage in other duties commensurate with the role.
* Respond to incidents as part of the team; be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (may attract additional payment and full training). Alternative working arrangements will be available to support your incident role.
Team and environment
The Intelligence Team manages and develops criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. The team works with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across regimes and focuses on delivering a professional, timely service while continuously improving processes to meet customer needs.
Experience/skills Required
* Self-motivated and proactive with a good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
* Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
* Excellent influencing skills; promoting Memex use and mandatory safety checks.
* Strong relationship-building abilities.
* Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective, and inclusive training.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
* Strong self-management and organisational skills.
* Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Location, travel and working patterns
You will be comfortable working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Interviews via Microsoft Teams are expected in October.
