In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 4 Network Engineer qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships .
A Typical Day in the Job:
* Proactively monitor and investigate network issues using internal tools.
* Act as a first/second line escalation point for customer and internal technical queries.
* Perform diagnostics and resolve connectivity, hardware, and software issues.
* Assist with network configurations and project-related tasks, including the setup of routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
* Escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior team members or relevant departments.
* Document standard operating procedures, network diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
* Generate and deliver internal and external training materials.
* Maintain and update internal systems, including ticketing and monitoring platforms.
* Support adherence to industry regulatory standards and company policies.
* Occasionally travel to customer sites or business points of presence within the UK.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge:
* Educated to GCSE level, including Maths and English.
* Foundational IT knowledge, with a focus on networking principles.
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Analytical problem-solving capabilities.
* CCNA qualification (or working towards).
* Experience in technical support or network engineering (1 year+).
* Understanding of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and networking technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP).
* Hands-on experience with routers, firewalls, and network diagnostics.
* Familiarity with domain, DNS, and content filtering systems.
* Knowledge of VOIP, SIP, and security standards such as ISO27001.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
* £18,000 – 20,000 per annum
* Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, 8:30am to 5pm, 9:30am to 6pm

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT networking.
Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
This Level 4 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in networking. You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of network engineering, from monitoring systems to configuring hardware and supporting customers.
As part of your apprenticeship programme you will also have the opportunity to complete specially selected Be-Spoke training modules to really take your training to the next level.
· CompTIA Network+ Certification : Develop the skills to establish, troubleshoot, and secure networks, deploy wired and wireless devices, and understand network services, cloud concepts, and documentation.
· Communication Skills Training : Improve communication through self-awareness, body language, voice control, and digital techniques while building empathy and rapport.
· Project Management Essentials : Learn the fundamentals of planning, team dynamics, project lifecycles, goal setting, and risk management.
With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll gain the qualifications and confidence you need to thrive in IT. Based full-time with Exa Networks, you’ll quickly become an integral part of the team while enjoying flexible online training from expert tutors.
