As a Team Leader, you’ll play a vital role in supporting your team to shape the future of recycling in England. Working within Waste Markets & Shipments (WM&S), you’ll help develop a team of technical officers who support reducing waste, improving recycling standards, and support businesses to operate more sustainably. As a Team leader, you will: Manage and encourage health, safety and wellbeing ensuring best practice ways of working are in line with Environment Agency policies Manage a team of technical officers, providing leadership, direction and support prioritisation of specific operational and regulatory activities Monitor team and individual performance ensuring work is consistently delivered to the required standards and service levels Promote inclusion by respecting differences in the workforce and building a supporting and engaging working environment Be responsible for recruitment in your regime and sometimes the wider department, motivating and developing team members to achieve specific goals Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Manage difficult conversations with internal and external stakeholders, understand the audience and be able to communicate at the right level Lead effective changes to policy and processes to improve efficiency and/ or safety of work You’ll also play a key role in incident response, with full training and support provided, as well as additional payment where applicable.
