NHS 111 Integrated Urgent Care Clinical Advisor - Milton Keynes
Job Summary
As a Clinical Advisor you will be the first point of contact for patients calling the NHS 111 service. You will clinically assess their symptoms, access the appropriate care pathway and work within a multidisciplinary team that includes health advisors, nurses, paramedics, mental health practitioners, pharmacists and more. Your role will significantly impact patient experience and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete a 9‑week full‑time training programme, fully paid.
* Clinically assess callers and determine the correct care pathway.
* Collaborate with health advisors, nurses, paramedics, mental health practitioners, pharmacists and other professionals to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place the first time.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and support quality improvement initiatives.
* Handle calls involving acute medical, mental health and social situations with calmness and empathy.
* Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights and 6‑ or 8‑hour shifts as required.
What We’re Looking For
* Registered General Nurse (RN1, RNA) or equivalent and current NMC/HCPC registration.
* At least 3 years of post‑registration experience in a clinical setting.
* Experience in triage or call‑centre environments preferred.
* Strong computer literacy and good telephone communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage emotionally charged situations.
* Commitment to working full time or part time and willing to work evenings, nights and weekends.
Desirable Skills
* Motivation for ongoing professional development.
* Understanding of clinical governance and audit practices.
* Prior supervisory, coaching or mentoring experience.

* Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum, pro rata, per Band 6.
* Pay scheme: Agenda for Change.
* Contract: Permanent.
* Working pattern: Full‑time or Part‑time (6‑ or 8‑hour shifts).
* Training: 9‑week full‑time programme, fully funded.
* Note: This is an office‑based role; home/remote working is not available.
