Job Advert Location Description
Orchid Lawns Care Home is located in the village of Steppingley, in Bedfordshire. Our home offers specialist nursing and dementia support for 24 adults, with 24-hour input from registered nurses. We can also offer end of life/palliative care and respite services.
The home offers a specialised Dementia Plus service, which supports people who have dementia who may have complex support needs. Our goal is to support resident to live an active and fulfilled life, with the support of a highly trained nurse-led staff team.
Job Advert Role Description
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to join our team supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys making a positive difference through creative and engaging activities.
Ideally you will have a full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years is preferred, to enable transport of service users to community-based activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, organise, and coordinate a varied and inclusive programme of activities and events tailored to the interests and needs of our service users.
2. Liaise with external organisations and entertainers to arrange meaningful sessions and outings.
3. Build relationships with local churches, volunteer groups, leisure centres, and other community partners.
4. Gather feedback through conversations and simple questionnaires to ensure activities are engaging and person-centred.
5. Work alongside the care team to schedule visits from professionals such as hairdressers, chiropodists, and others.
About You:
6. Cheerful, creative, and outgoing with a genuine passion for supporting others.
7. Organised and confident in planning and coordinating group activities.
8. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in the care sector or with individuals with additional needs.
9. Previous experience as an Activity Coordinator is not essential—what matters most is your enthusiasm, empathy, and positive attitude.
