About the Role
As the Drainage and Water Design Team Leader, you will:
* Lead a transportation drainage & water design team, delivering high-quality, compliant, and sustainable solutions across a portfolio of transportation projects.
* Act as the technical and delivery lead for assigned work packages, ensuring designs are coordinated and commitments are met.
* Work closely with the Design Manager and wider Kier Design teams to develop team capability and build strong relationships with clients.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
* Accountable for leading the Transportation Drainage & Water team to deliver work packages on time and within budget.
* Support and implement process improvements and encourage technical innovation in highway drainage and flood risk management.
* Act as the technical lead for assigned work packages, ensuring compliance with DM RB, LLFA, and local authority standards.
* Plan, price, and deliver work packages under Option C/E design contracts, proactively managing risks.
* Build and maintain relationships with Local Authorities, LLFAs, National Highways, and utilities.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you have:
* Proven experience leading and developing design teams (7–14 members).
* A strong ability to manage programmes, budgets, and risks across various transportation projects.
* Experience managing clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and positive outcomes.
* Demonstrated delivery of high-quality, compliant highway drainage and flood risk solutions.
* Practical knowledge of DMRB, LLFA requirements, and local authority standards.
* A full driving license and willingness to travel as required.
