Open Ended Contract - Permanent.
Full Time - 35 hours per week

The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Technician in Photography, you will assist with the support, operation, and maintenance of technical facilities at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). You will provide inductions, guidance, and support to students and staff in standard processes and techniques, and assist students with their projects under the guidance of a Technical Manager and Specialist Technicians.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual eager to gain new skills across our technical workshops.
While primarily based in photography, occasional coverage across other Media and Immersive areas (Film & TV, Music, Animation, and Immersive) may be required.
Your skills and attributes for success:
* Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus relevant work experience OR school education to standard grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
* Working knowledge and experience of relevant photography processes and equipment, including at least 2 of: digital and analogue photography, wet and dry darkroom processes—experience using enlargers, photo chemicals, and digital processors.
* A good understanding of Health and Safety practices within an educational environment.
* Demonstrable knowledge, interest, and experience in Art and/or Design backgrounds.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce documentation and help materials for students and staff.
* Ability to work effectively in a team with minimal supervision, and to collaborate with students and staff of varying technical abilities.
