Overview
We are looking for an experienced receptionist to join our busy medical reception team based on the outskirts of Bradford. The position is part time, 26.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a rolling rota of mornings and afternoons. The role includes handling all callers via telephone, booking appointments with the appropriate clinician, preparing repeat prescriptions, handling Doctors tasks, and repairing the paper copies of patient records (tagging). Full training is provided for all aspects of the role.
Main duties
The successful candidate will participate in all reception activities once trained. Previous GP surgery experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.

It is a very busy surgery offering general health care along with specialist services such as physiotherapy and ultrasound screening. Job responsibilities
KEY ROLE – RECEPTION AND ADMINISTRATION DUTIES
* Receives and assists patients and visitors, directing to others as appropriate. Handles all general enquiries in person and by telephone, and takes and records messages for other team members. Redirects enquiries to appropriate staff as necessary.
* Explains practice arrangements to new patients wishing to register and to those seeking temporary cover; ensures all procedures are completed.
* Makes, cancels and rearranges appointments in accordance with the practice appointment system.
* Receives and records requests for advice calls and home visits.
* Actions and records requests for ambulances/hospital transport.
* Receives requests for prescriptions and arranges issue and signing of repeat prescriptions in accordance with the practice protocol.
* Receives specimens from patients following Health and Safety guidelines and ensures they are passed to the appropriate clinician.
* Acts as a chaperone for patients as required.
* Aware of the practice complaints procedure and directs patients as appropriate.
* Prepares outgoing post and arranges posting as necessary.
* Ensures accurate recording and handover of information relating to incomplete tasks.
* Repair, tagging and maintenance of medical records.
* Liaises with the practice administration team regarding urgent and private appointments; coordinates transport and works with Community Matrons, District Nursing and Social Services.
* Actions practice notes daily, which may involve contacting patients, hospitals or other service providers by telephone, SMS, letter or email.
* Contacts patients due for recall (e.g., follow-up for vaccinations, smears, etc.).
* Participation in reception rotas and provides cover to the administration team as required.

Qualifications
* Essential: Minimum GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* Essential: Experience of dealing with the general public
Desirable
* Previous GP surgery experience or similar
* Previous use of SystmOne or similar
* Call centre experience
* Current DBS check
