Workshop Manager
Location: Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am 5:00pm
Compass Point Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a highly regarded business within the agricultural sector to recruit a Workshop Manager based in Bury St Edmunds.
This position is responsible for overseeing both the service workshop and parts department, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations, outstanding customer service, and strong commercial performance. You will lead from the front, managing people, processes, and customer relationships while contributing to the continued growth and long-term success of the business.
As Workshop Manager, you will take full responsibility for the performance of both the workshop and parts functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service workshop and parts department
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of service technicians and parts staff
Act as the primary point of contact for customers, delivering exceptional service and building long-term relationships
Plan, schedule, and manage workshop workloads to maximise efficiency and productivity
Manage parts ordering, stock control, inventory levels, and supplier relationships
Prepare estimates, job cards, invoices, and warranty claims accurately and efficiently
Drive service and parts sales to achieve departmental targets
Monitor KPIs, analyse performance data, and implement improvements to increase profitability
Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies
Resolve customer queries and issues promptly and professionally
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in a Service Manager, Parts Manager, Workshop Manager, or similar leadership role
Industry background within agricultural machinery, trailers, automotive, or plant machinery preferred
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
Customer-focused mindset with strong communication skills
Confident IT skills and experience using workshop or parts management systems
Commercial awareness with a track record of driving performance and achieving targets
