Requirements for the role:

* You must have an existing and valid right to work for the duration of the apprenticeship in the UK. Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship.

* Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42-month duration.

* Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here: Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK

* At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English.

* Ability to be onsite five days per week, either at our factory in Brackley or at the apprenticeship learning provider (located in Milton Keynes or Coventry).

* We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme.


About the role:

Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, we are seeking to employ a Machining Apprentice to work within the fast-paced environment of our Metallic Machining Department. The successful candidate will be part of a highly skilled team of Machinists, CAM Programmers and Production Engineers, and over the course of the full Apprenticeship, will learn how to manufacture precision machined components for our Formula 1 car, wind tunnel and customer programmes. This Apprenticeship will take part at our Formula 1 HQ in Brackley, alongside additional learning at a Technical College.

Key Skills to be developed during the Apprenticeship include:

* The use of manual and CNC machine tools for the manufacture of precision machined components.

* Understanding and interpreting technical drawings and developing understanding of specifications and geometrical tolerances.

* Developing competence in CAD/CAM software for design & manufacturing.

* Ability to use a wide range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.

* Understanding manufacturing processes and sequences.

* Develop professional, positive relationships with all team members, with a focus on working collaboratively with all areas of the Machine Shop.

* Safe working within general Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines with specific attention and working to Departmental Risk Assessments.


Candidate Profile

Essential:

* Strong interest in engineering with an enquiring mind.

* Computer literate and confident in learning new technologies.

* Dependable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.

* Good communication and teamwork skills.

* Reliable, flexible, and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.

* A positive work ethic with a "can-do" attitude.

* Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

* It would be preferable if one year of a Machining/Engineering College course has been completed and further advantageous to have work experience within a similar environment.
