SEN Teaching Assistant (Behavioural, Emotional and Academic Support), Brent

Are you a motivated and adaptable graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting students with diverse needs?

We are recruiting on behalf of a range of Brent schools, including mainstream secondary schools and specialist SEN settings. A full-time opportunity is available from October 2025. You will work with pupils aged 11 to 18, providing behaviour, emotional and academic support that helps each student make meaningful progress.

SEN Teaching Assistant: Role overview
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students achieve success in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with pupils, teachers and wider support teams to deliver consistent, needs-led support.

Key responsibilities
Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across a range of subjects
Assist with behaviour management and promote a calm, purposeful learning environment
Provide emotional support to help pupils build confidence and resilience
Promote academic progress in line with each students individual needs and learning style
Develop a practical understanding of SEN strategies, including support for needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language needs
This role is ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, clinical psychology or other education-related fields.

SEN Teaching Assistant: Candidate requirements
A minimum of a 2:1 degree from a UK university
Experience working with children or young people is desirable, either voluntary or paid
A patient, empathetic and resilient nature
A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and progress of secondary-age pupils
An up-to-date DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
