Ommercial Manager – Passive Fire Protection (Progression to Director) Location: Essex / London / Hybrid Salary: £85,000 – £100,000 Car / Allowance Bonus Full Package Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Company Our client is a well-established main contractor and expanding Passive Fire Protection contractor with an excellent reputation for quality, compliance, and delivery across the UK. Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of new work, they are now seeking a Commercial Manager with the ambition and capability to progress to Commercial Director within 12–24 months. This is a key leadership role within a growing business that has already established a strong foothold in the fire protection and compliance sector. You’ll have the opportunity to influence company strategy, build lasting client relationships, and drive sustainable growth. The Role As Commercial Manager, you will oversee all commercial operations across multiple passive fire projects — ensuring profitability, compliance, and successful client delivery. You’ll work closely with senior management to shape commercial strategy and support business expansion. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the commercial function for multiple Passive Fire projects (residential, commercial, and public sector). * Oversee project cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts. * Build and maintain strong client relationships — particularly with Tier 1 contractors and local authorities. * Support the tendering and bid process with sound commercial input. * Provide mentoring and leadership to junior QS and commercial staff. * Report regularly to Directors on commercial performance and strategic opportunities. * Identify and pursue new work streams or framework opportunities. About You * Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior QS within Passive Fire, Firestopping, or Specialist Subcontracting. * Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing multiple live projects. * Existing client contacts within Tier 1 contractors or local authorities (highly desirable). * Ambitious, strategic, and ready to take on more responsibility. * Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites when required.
