We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-aged student within a specialist provision. This is a rewarding opportunity for a trauma-informed professional who is passionate about supporting young people with complex needs and helping them progress toward a successful transition into a mainstream environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviours
* Implement and independently manage individual behaviour support plans
* Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and engagement
* Build a strong, trusting relationship with the student to promote positive outcomes
* Support the student’s gradual reintegration into a mainstream educational setting
* Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals to ensure consistent support
Requirements
* Proven experience working with high-needs pupils in a school or specialist setting
* Strong background in supporting SEMH and challenging behaviour
* CPI, Team Teach, or Positive Handling training (essential)
* Ability to remain calm, resilient, and adaptable in challenging situations
* Experience of working in a trauma-informed way
* Confident in taking initiative and working independently
