OUTLINE OF POST FOR PRACTITIONER
Practitioner an enthusiastic, caring and imaginative individual who will be committed to positive teamwork and providing good play experiences for the children and young people who use the service.
Forehill After School Club are currently looking for a qualified practitioner to join their team. The successful applicant should hold a minimum of SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a childcare qualification.
Duties will include supervision of children aged 3 – 12 years, organising activities for the children, ensuring the safety of the children at all times, assisting with preparation of the setting & completing necessary paperwork.
This vacancy's working hours are rota'd monthly from the following opening hours:
As and when required at before school club shall be up to 7.5 hours per week term-time [Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 9.00am].
As and when required at after school club shall be up to 15 per week term-time (Monday to Thursday between 3.00pm and 6.00pm/Fridays 3.00pm-5.00pm; additional hours out with these times may be rota'd for staff planning meetings and any other business required by the service)
As and when required during full day care (school holiday cover) (Monday to Friday between 8am and 6.00pm).
Hourly rate dependant on experience and qualifications.
Successful applicants are required to be a member of the PVG scheme. Expenses of joining a PVG scheme will be met by the candidate in the first instance. THE JOB DESCRIPTION
Practitioners:-
* demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills with everyone involved in our setting especially the children and their parents / carers.
* will be capable of stimulating play in a safe, caring environment in line with current theories of the play cycle.
* will have a good knowledge of child development as this post involves work with children from aged 3 to 12 years.
* will be expected to assist in the completion of all necessary paperwork pertaining to the daily organisation of the service.
* will be capable of working conscientiously on your own and as part of the team.
* will apply and adhere to the groups' policies and procedures at all times.
* will contribute to the ongoing planning of activities for our service.
* will assist in the preparation of snacks, as and when required.
* will adhere to local and national guidelines, safe practices, external policy and relevant legislation.
* will demonstrate a caring attitude towards all of the children in our service.
* will exercise good organisational skills.
* will be able to prepare the setting prior to the commencement of the activities, in conjunction with the other staff on duty, for the varying ages and stages of development of the children attending but in line with the current playwork theories.
* will assist in the tidying and cleaning of the setting and its equipment as deemed necessary.
* will demonstrate accurate attention to detail.
* may be required to attend training sessions as deemed necessary by your line manager; these are all likely to be in house training initially.
* will ensure information and advice is communicated in a clear, concise and accurate manner through written and verbal communication.
* will be responsible to the manager in the daily running of the service.
* will take part in any other duties as deemed necessary by the manager.

Pay: From £12.21 per hour
