Join our dynamic team at The Vales, a 15-bed rehabilitation unit at Discovery House, which is undergoing an exciting transformation into a level 2 mental health unit. We are seeking an experienced inpatient ward manager who is dedicated to delivering relational and trauma-informed care.

Main duties of the job
Manage and hold 24-hour responsibility for the provision of clinical care and all aspects of operational management on a ward.
Co-ordinate and make effective use of staff, supervise staff and ensure training is maintained.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and provide clinical leadership for staff.
Ensure cost-effective use of resources and the delivery of compassionate, safe and effective care to patients on the ward.

Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC)
* Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice
* Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership
* Masters Degree
Experience
* Substantial post qualification experience in an Inpatient ward setting.
* Post-Registration experience of working with adults with mental health needs.
* Experience of working with adults with complex needs (Neurodiversity, Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating, Learning Disability)
* Experience of managing staff and good leadership skills.
* Sound knowledge of the national agenda for mental health.
* Sound knowledge of clinical / risk assessment and understanding of confidentiality.
* Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
* Evidence of involvement with research initiatives
* Experience of working with system partners to achieve patient discharge outcomes
Skills
* Prioritisation and resource allocation, planning and organisation skills
* Clinical system experience.
* Able to communicate complex and at times highly sensitive information to a variety of stakeholders.
* Experience of Rostering staff preferably using an electronic system such as Healthroster
* Good negotiation skills for conflict resolution
* IT skills‑ clinical systems, roster systems, email, word processing excel.
* Analyse and interpret data/or information
* Experience of audit and assurance processes on a ward
* Budget management.
* Self‑motivated with excellent personal management skills
* Experience of Rio Clinical system
