What you will do
* Medication Dispensing: Prepare and dispense medications accurately to meet the healthcare needs of inmates while adhering to strict security and safety protocols.
* Medication Reconciliation: Maintain accurate records of all medications, dosage changes, and treatment plans for each inmate. Ensure that medication profiles are up to date.
* Prescription Processing: Assist in processing prescriptions, including receiving, verifying, and preparing medication orders for approval by the prison’s medical staff.
* Inventory Management: Manage and maintain the pharmacy’s drug inventory, ensuring that medications are properly stored, labelled, and organized. Perform regular inventory checks and reorder medications as needed.
* Medication Packaging: Package medications in unit-dose or other appropriate forms, ensuring clear labelling and compliance with prison policies.
* Controlled Substances Handling: Safely manage and dispense controlled substances, maintaining accurate records and adhering to strict security measures to prevent diversion.
* Prescription Records: Maintain confidential and organized records of all medication transactions, including inmate prescriptions, transfers, and returns.
* Medication Education: Provide inmates with information on medication administration, potential side effects, and the importance of compliance with prescribed regimens.
Requirements of the Prison/HMP Pharmacy Technician
* Must be registered on the GPHC and have a relevant qualification in pharmacy.
* Prison clearance and experience is essential.
* UK experience is essential.
