Responsibilities

The role will require you to respond to an ever‑changing and demanding working environment. You will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, patient‑focused care to those experiencing mental health difficulties across a wide spectrum of mental‑health diagnoses and complexity. This will require you to exercise initiative and autonomy to anticipate and respond to the unpredictability of referrals and the complex demands they present. You will also have the opportunity to provide learning for peers, student nurses, medical students and other health‑care professionals in both general and mental‑health placements.

Qualifications

Applications for this post are invited from experienced RMN’s, able to demonstrate enhanced skills, knowledge and experience of working with patients presenting with a range of mental‑health problems. The successful applicant will have experience of team working, problem solving, flexibility, high‑level communication skills, continuing personal development and change management. A commitment to partnership working with a range of stakeholders is also essential. The successful candidate will have significant experience at Band 6, preferably in a community mental‑health setting, and have demonstrable experience of service development.

Additional Information

A requirement of this post is membership in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, you must demonstrate that you have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. As part of the pre‑employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK, which can be evidenced through specific types of visa, EU settled status or pre‑settled status. Please ensure you already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored before submitting your application.

We offer flexible working and family‑friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

Equal Opportunity Statement

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
