The nursing team is currently comprised of the Lead Nurse and 2 band 7 specialist nurses, we are recruiting an additional band 7 specialist nurse and 2 band 6 associate specialist nurses to complete the team. We work alongside a team of 5 palliative care consultants, a Grid trainee and SpIn (Special Interest) trainees. The post will be required to deliver the highest quality palliative, end of life and bereavement care to babies, children and young people within Alder Hey and across Cheshire and Merseyside and the wider North West region. We provide a 7 day service and a 24/7 on call service to enable families to be supported in their preferred place of care at end of life, including a medical on call. We are looking for a compassionate individual to fill this exciting and challenging position and work as a specialist nurse to lead, co-ordinate and deliver palliative and end of life care to children and young people aged 0-19 years, and bereavement care to their families. Care is provided in a variety of settings including the home, hospices or in a hospital. The specialist nurse will need to work closely and foster good relationships with all members of the child’s multi-disciplinary team and with colleagues from health, social care and education. The post holder will be a qualified children’s nurse with significant palliative care experience.
