Overview
Stockwell, London. Senior support worker role in a supported housing service. Fixed Term Contract until 1st November 2026. 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £29,781 pro rata. The service supports young people, including young mothers and babies, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young men across three sites in Croydon and Stockwell. Location is near Stockwell tube station with on-site parking for colleagues. This role focuses on customer care, health and safety, flexibility, adaptability, developing positive parenting skills and immigration support. We are looking for a committed individual who can join a lively, supportive team to provide excellent service for our young people.
You will need the correct right to work in the UK (Evolve does not have a sponsorship license). The role requires working on a pre-planned rolling rota including mornings from 7am, evenings until 10pm, mid shifts and weekends.
Responsibilities
* Support a caseload of at least 10 customers and identify their strengths, needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities to enable independent living.
* Plan and set targets to achieve goals and take appropriate actions to meet aspirations.
* Participate in activities and provide opportunities that generate aspiration and confidence in self-development.
* Assist with sourcing legal advice around immigration status and asylum claims.
* Enable customers to gain necessary support from other agencies; network/build relationships with external organisations; apply safeguarding knowledge; support asylum seekers who may face trauma and PTSD.
* Identify barriers to education and employment and work to overcome them.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Experience in care and support within housing, asylum/seeking and related settings is desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and experience helping clients navigate complex service systems is preferred.
* Ability to work with a diverse group of young people, including those with mental health, trauma, care leaver status, probation or learning disabilities.
* Strong networking and relationship-building skills with other organisations and agencies.
