This is a full-time opportunity, on a fixed term basis until 30 January 2028. Part time working will also be considered for this role. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Who are we? The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The Partnerships Group takes responsibility for the development of the MHRAs national and international partnerships and for developing a new underpinning legal regime for medicines and medical devices. The Group focuses on areas which are of central importance to the Agencys future, contributing to the NHS and priority public health objectives; delivering the Governments Life Sciences Vision and Innovation Strategy; and ensuring continued global leadership through the development of new national and international partnerships. These, and the other transformational regulatory proposals which are being developed across the Agency, will require legislation to be updated, and potentially, to be reformed into a new legal regime. Whats the role? This is a strategic role in a £43m NIHR-funded Mental Health Mission programme whose ambition is to provide a sustainable research and regulation-ready environment in the UK that can support the pace and scale of mental health research needed to address patient need. The post holder will be the regulatory lead on the Missions operational team and work with partners, supported by the expertise in the Partnerships Group and wider Agency, to accelerate the development of new regulatory and evaluation approaches that facilitate timely approval and uptake of safe and effective innovative medicines and medical devices in the Mental Health space, including those based on Artificial Intelligence. Key responsibilities: Provide regulatory leadership on the Mental Health Missions operational team, working with Agency partners to accelerate the development of new regulatory and evaluation approaches. Convene discussions with stakeholders across the system including Mental Health medical product innovators and the regulator and evaluator community to develop relationships, mutual understanding, and communication structures in pursuit of elaborating future regulatory and evaluation approaches. Leverage MHRAs existing cross system networks and strong relationships with other national and international regulators, evaluation agencies and procurement commissioners Collaborate with Agency scientific research and regulatory medical products experts, including MHRAs Software as a Medical Device team and those involved in other Life Science Vision Missions, enabling future approaches to be aligned across the priority missions.
