Trainee Occupational Hygienist Permanent, full time £32,000 bonus & benefits Drax Power Station Selby, North Yorkshire Interested in developing your career as an Occupational Hygienist? In a role that will support you gaining professional qualifications? Drax has a large number of employees and contractors on site, and it's the Occupational Hygiene team's responsibility to ensure these people are working safely. As a trainee within a small team, you'll support occupational hygiene standards across the site and provide specialist advice and interpretation across all occupational hygiene subjects from; legionella; dust exposure; noise exposure; chemical exposure; heat stress and DSE to name a few. The role will involve providing analytical data driven advice to ensure everyone who works at Drax goes home safe and well each day. You'll contribute to the occupational hygiene sampling and testing programme for onsite and offsite locations and provide high quality reports for internal and external customers, as well as liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop risk management policy positions. You'll be reviewing HSE guidance on various aspects of occupational hygiene and undertaking the Occupational hygiene monitoring program to ensure standards are continually improving. This will involve working with Drax cross-divisional Technical Working Groups to develop guidance and support improvement of plant standards for health. It will be expected that you complete the British Occupation Hygiene Society (BOHS) development programme supported by Drax within your first two - three years in post to become a certified Occupational Hygienist. About you A relevant post graduate qualification in occupational hygiene is desirable. Or you may have recently graduated with a degree, 2:2 or higher equivalent, in a relevant area such as: Occupational health or occupational hygiene Chemistry Applied mathematical subjects or statistics Biological sciences Environmental sciences Other Science related subject You'll need to have a valid UK driving licence to be able to commute to site and surrounding areas.
