GB NRG is a growing large commercial solar PV contractor delivering high-quality design and installation projects across GB and due to continued growth we are expanding our design team.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Solar PV Designer to support the design and delivery of commercial rooftop and ground mount solar PV systems. This role is suited to a graduate or early-career professional looking to develop technical expertise within the renewable energy sector.
The successful candidate will support the design function from initial concept through to as-built documentation, working alongside senior designers and project managers to ensure projects are delivered accurately, compliantly and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
· Support day-to-day design activities.
· Produce initial layout designs.
· Assist in the preparation of pre-construction design packs.
· Prepare and update as-built drawings and technical documentation.
· Assist with string design, inverter selection and cable sizing calculations.
· Support DNO application documentation.
· Ensure designs comply with project specifications, relevant UK standards, and statutory regulations.
· Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, site teams and suppliers to coordinate technical information.
· Maintain drawing registers and support document control processes.
· Provide technical support during construction and commissioning where required.
Skills & Experience:
· Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Building Services or similar (or relevant industry experience).
· Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD preferred).
· High level of attention to detail and technical accuracy.
· Strong organisational and time management skills.
· Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
· Genuine interest in renewable energy and solar PV.
· Ability to work full-time from our Somerset office.
Desirable:
· Previous experience in solar, electrical design or construction environments.
· Experience using PV design software (e.g. PV*Sol or similar).
