Role Overview
As a Mechanical Technician, you will be part of a multi-disciplined diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance on a 12-hour shift basis. You will support the department's Shift Management team (Production and Engineering) to ensure safety, quality, and production plans are met. The team may be asked to assist across sites as needed to support business objectives. Individuals will work across all departments, gaining knowledge and experience from the local team.

Responsibilities
* Report to the Team Leader Engineering regarding maintenance and operation of plant and equipment.
* Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
* Organize and prioritize work, managing tasks as directed.
* Develop maintenance practices to improve plant reliability.
* Record work details via CMMS, including spares used and issues encountered.
* Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain records.
* Communicate spare parts needs to the team leader or engineer.
* Follow procedures and participate in creating risk assessments and safe working practices.
* Complete risk assessments for specific tasks.
* Provide coverage during absences.
* Maintain equipment standards and liaise with engineering colleagues.
* Minimize waste in operations.
* Assist with general duties as needed.
* Deputize for the Team Leader when required.
* Supervise and organize a multi-skilled workforce.
* Issue permits and undertake on-the-job training.
* Engage in plant improvement projects.
Minimum Requirements
* A recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC, minimum ONC or equivalent).
* Knowledge of industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, water cooling, conveyors, and dust extraction.
* Self-motivated with leadership qualities.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams and solve problems systematically.
* Experience with permit systems or understanding of their operation.
* Customer-focused with good prioritization skills.
