At Serco, we're on a mission - and we want you to be part of it. We're looking for an inspirational Cover Tutor to deliver all aspects of education and cover for tutors, leave, and CPD at HMP Ashfield, a secure facility where education is the foundation of second chances.

Behind every door is a learner waiting to unlock their potential. As a Cover Tutor, you'll inspire and support the delivery of induction training and support the barbering shop. You'll also assist the Curriculum Manager in delivering education aimed at increasing employability, reducing re-offending, and preparing prisoners for a successful return to the community.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Set up safe working practices and ensure they are followed
2. Maintain accurate records and provide management information as required
3. Set, monitor, and review prisoner work targets
4. Embed employability skills into the working area
5. Maintain a safe environment for all prisoners
6. Maintain security, order, and discipline, including routine searches
7. Understand and operate the Incentive and Earned Privilege scheme and contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behaviour
8. Keep up to date with mandatory training or inform the appropriate department if out of date
9. Conduct yourself professionally at all times

What You'll Need:
* Level 5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it
* Proven experience in a role demanding strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Flexibility and ability to work under deadlines and pressure
* Recent experience and knowledge of teaching Business Skills
* Experience in a custodial environment is an advantage
Desirable: Certification in Education/PGCE
