Overview
In-House Maintenance Technician - Albright College seeks a reliable and skilled individual to live on campus and provide timely maintenance and repair services for college-owned buildings and facilities. This role maintains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. On-campus housing is provided as part of the compensation package, and the successful candidate will respond to maintenance needs during regular hours and in emergencies.
Essential Job Functions
1. Must be available on-call for emergencies/corrective actions and have a flexible schedule.
1. Ability to assess issues and, at a minimum, address them to limit further damages until regular business hours.
2. Living on campus is a condition of this employment. Private housing provided.
2. Perform general maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to: general carpentry, general plumbing, general electrical, HVAC diagnosis and repairs.
3. Perform general repairs and corrective actions to doors, locks, and hardware.
4. Perform corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance in a variety of applications.
5. Perform corrective measures to work orders that are assigned.
6. Identify issues and potential issues, resolve and/or report issues.
7. Prioritize work to ensure major and life-safety issues take priority.
8. Ability to handle reactive maintenance as well as preventative maintenance.
9. Must be able to work in a team setting as well as an individual setting.
10. Monitor or inspect work of contractors on specialized work; report problems to supervisor.
11. Maintain records on maintenance performed, material procured, and inventories held as part of the work order process.
12. Maintain equipment and work area; keep a clean work environment.
13. Perform work following the standard department and trade safety procedures.
14. Assist in snow removal.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Prerequisites
COMMUNICATION
1. Verbal and written communication skills.
SKILLS
1. Ability to work without direct supervision.
2. Ability to diagnose issues and resolve or report issues to supervisor.
3. Ability to work in an efficient manner.
4. Ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
5. Ability to kneel, climb ladders up to 20 feet, and climb stairs.
6. Ability to comprehend work requests, notices, and directions, especially those related to equipment use, precautions, and hazard notices.
7. Knowledge of HVAC systems and repairs.
8. Knowledge of elementary household electricity and plumbing.
9. Knowledge of basic mechanics and the principles of building construction.
10. Knowledge of tools, materials, and safety hazards associated with the trade.
11. Knowledge of building codes.
12. Good interpersonal skills.
13. Demonstrated ability to work with various team members and divisions.
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
1. Preventative and corrective maintenance experience.
2. Doors, locks and hardware experience.
EDUCATION
1. High school diploma is required.
LICENSES
1. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid license.
2. Appropriate skill-level certifications.
