Monarch Education are working with a secondary school in Perry Barr to appoint a SENDCo on a full-time, long-term basis starting in September.
The SENDCo will lead the development of SEND provision and manage the day-to-day coordination of support for students with additional needs.
Job Specification
Main Purpose
* Lead SEND policy and provision across the school
* Manage the delivery of SEND support
* Work with staff, parents, and external agencies
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
* Monitor and review SEND provision
* Ensure SEND policy is implemented and aligned with school improvement plans
* Contribute to school evaluation and planning
* Monitor the use of SEND funding
Operational Responsibilities
* Maintain the SEND register and provision mapping
* Identify students with SEND and coordinate support
* Track and analyse student progress
* Keep accurate records
EHCP Responsibilities
* Manage EHCP processes and annual reviews
* Ensure compliance with SEND requirements
* Liaise with parents, carers, and professionals
Teaching and Learning Support
* Advise staff on supporting SEND students
* Promote the graduated approach to SEND support
* Support differentiation in the classroom
Partnership Working
* Act as the main contact for external agencies and the local authority
* Work with external professionals
* Communicate with parents and carers
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Degree or equivalent
* Experience working with SEND in a secondary school
* Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo)
