Ormiston Maritime Academy are seeking to appoint two highly motivated and committed Apprentice Teaching Assistants to provide support to students in the Academy on behalf of the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, being responsible for working day to day to support student engagement and education for 30 hours per week during term time only including 5 training days. The position is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will undertake a course of study to work towards the Institute of Apprenticeships Teaching Assistant Level 3 Standard.

The successful candidate will be required to support the education of students, to undertake the necessary preparation of resources, following procedures and internal systems to promote engagement and learning.

Responsibilities Include

* Working with an individual or small groups of students in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff
* Working with individual students with special educational needs
* Implementing planned learning activities/teaching programmes as directed by the teacher
* Select, prepare and clear away classroom materials and learning areas ensuring they are available for use, including developing and presenting displays
* Arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the guidance of the teacher
* May invigilate exams and tests
* Supporting students emotional and social well-being
