Dorset Healthcare is looking for a Community Occupational Therapist to join our supportive team based in Bridport on a fixed-term contract until 31.3.2026, working in the community.
The multidisciplinary team works with adult patients in their own homes, community hospital wards, or care homes to promote independence and improve quality of life by supporting them to remain at home. The role of Community Occupational Therapist provides specialist assessment, advice, and interventions to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, support timely discharges, and manage longer-term rehabilitation for those with long-term conditions or physical disabilities.
The Community Occupational Therapist will be required to provide holistic clinical assessments, problem-solve, and make treatment decisions. The role also involves follow-up rehabilitation and assessments on your own caseload. Opportunities for further training, development, and involvement in service development projects are available.
This is a full-time position. Service hours are 08:00-18:00, 7 days a week, with weekend enhanced pay.
You will need a valid UK driving license and access to a car.

This is a fixed-term role; for current NHS staff, the role is offered on a secondment basis only. Permission for secondment must be obtained before applying.

Responsibilities include undertaking autonomous assessments, interventions, and management of patients on an independent caseload within a multidisciplinary team; providing expert advice; responding to crises at home; monitoring through assessments; devising care programs; and ensuring high-quality, person-centered care respecting safety, privacy, and dignity.
