The Ground Transportation Coordinator supports the coordination and execution of road transportation solutions across the UK, working closely with the local operations team.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Transportation Coordination & Execution
Coordinate daily UK and European road freight operations, including FTL, LTL, and groupage shipments Arrange bookings with approved carriers and ensure accurate scheduling and dispatch Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage delays, disruptions, or exceptions Ensure all transport activities are aligned with customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs)
Carrier & Vendor Management
Work closely with a network of approved UK and European hauliers and transport providers Support onboarding of new carriers in line with company compliance and due diligence processes Monitor carrier performance (service, cost, reliability) and escalate issues where required Ensure adherence to agreed rates, contracts, and service expectations
Operational & Network Support
2. Collaborate with UK branches and European offices to coordinate transport solutions
3. Ensure consistency in processes and service delivery across the network
4. Support the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational best practices
Pricing & Commercial Support
5. Assist with transport pricing, spot quotes, and cost assessments
6. Support commercial teams with competitive and operationally viable solutions
7. Maintain awareness of market rates and capacity trends within the UK and European road freight market
Compliance & Regulatory Awareness
8. Ensure compliance with UK and EU transport regulations, including driver hours, vehicle standards, and cabotage rules where applicable
9. Support adherence to company policies, health & safety standards, and security requirements
10. Ensure accurate transport documentation (CMR, delivery notes, customs documentation where applicable post-Brexit)
Stakeholder Communication
11. Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, carriers, and internal teams
12. Provide timely updates on shipment status, delays, and issue resolution
13. Support escalation management and ensure customer expectations are effectively managed
Performance & Continuous Improvement
14. Monitor key KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost control, and service quality
15. Identify opportunities for operational improvement and efficiency gains
16. Contribute to sharing best practices across the UK and wider EMEIA network

24. Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment
25. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
26. Full clean driver’s license
Education and Experience Required:
27. 3–5 years’ experience in road freight, logistics, or supply chain operations
28. Experience coordinating UK domestic and European road freight
29. Good understanding of UK geography and European transport routes
30. Experience working with carriers and hauliers
Certifications and Licences:
Professional certification may be required in some areas.
