Laboratory Test Technician: Plan, execute and report on parametric and validation testing activities to evaluate product performance on electronic/ mechanical assemblies
Reporting to the NI Engineering Operations Test Lab Supervisor you will conduct Validation & Engineering Analysis testing for both Auto and Commercial Vehicle business units by carrying out product testing according to the test specification provided by the test requisitioner through ATLAS Lab Management software
General Responsibilities
•Develops accurate root cause analysis of sensors using electrical and physical fault techniques
• Controls failures produced bycomponents and informs the supplier if they exceed acceptable levels
• Recommends how to solve failures produced in the electronic components, in the assemblies and in the systems using test equipment
• Communicates results of the analysis through technical reports
• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to establish production plans and processes
• Supports failure analysis cycle time requirements
Experience / Qualifications
• Relevant work experience or knowledge of the role
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Main duties include:
1. Set-up and operate a range of electronic/ mechanical and environmental test equipment to carry out testing activities to required laboratory standards and according to test specification. Includes all kinds of temperature/humidity test, salt spray test, function test, vibration test, pressure cycling test etc.
2. Record results of testing, test related activities/observations, and key test information
3. Compile and publish in-depth test reports on test activities and observations/results
4. Communicate progress status, results and observations relating to testing activities to relevant stakeholders as appropriate
5. Carry out all activities in accordance with the high standards required by the laboratory management system and the company’s ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 procedures.
6. Work as a member of a team helping to implement and carry out all company working practices and Environmental, Safety and Health procedures.
7. Contribute to the formulation and writing of test procedures for approval and addition to Laboratory documentation and assist in the design of any special fixturing required in the execution of testing.
8. Assist/liaise with outside test houses or other service providers as required/appropriate for completion of test activities.
9. Lab equipment maintenance and log record.
10. Carry out any other duties as reasonably required for the smooth running of the Laboratory or in support of test development activities.
Essential Criteria:
11. 3rd level qualification in technical / engineering subject. NB: Exceptionally a candidate with extensive relevant test laboratory experience may be considered with less than the stated qualifications.
12. Experience of laboratory testing or similar.
13. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team and deliver results to all levels within the business.
14. Good written and verbal communication skills. Clearly conveying and receiving messages to meet the needs of all including a proven ability to collate and analyse data.
15. Results orientated – knowing what results are important and focusing resources to achieve them.
16. Problem solving and judgement – Proven ability to assess options and implications in order to identify a solution.
Desirable Criteria:
17. Proven ability to develop hardware/software test system solutions.
18. Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus networks.
19. Experience of test system build and equipment maintenance.
