An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, well-established GMS practice as a Practice Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed practice nurse to join our dedicated team.
This part‑time role covers 2 days per week. Either Monday or Tuesday and Thursday, totalling 16 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Deliver a range of clinical nursing services including
* Chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
* Conduct cervical cytology (smear tests)
* Administer vaccinations and immunisations, including childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations
* Perform wound care, dressings
* Carry out NHS Health Checks
* Undertake ECGs
* Provide patient education and health promotion advice
* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records on SystmOne
* Liaise and work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team
* Contribute to QOF and enhanced service targets
Job Responsibilities
* The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policies and procedures.
* Managing the nursing care of patients with chronic disease
* Providing specialist care for registered patients in the following key areas: Asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes, COPD, Cervical Smears, Contraception, Baby immunisations.
Experience
* Experience of working in general practice as a Practice Nurse.
* Ability to carry out general practice nursing procedures such as:
* • Wound care and dressings
* • Child and Adult immunisations
* • Cervical screening (smear tests)
* • Blood pressure monitoring
* • ECG and basic health assessments
* • Knowledge of infection prevention and control
* • Care of Long Term Conditions (LTCs)
Qualifications
* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)

Practice Operating Hours: Surgery is open from 8am to 6:45pm, Monday to Friday.
Team: 1 full‑time GP partner, 2 part‑time GP partners, 1 full‑time salaried GP, 3 part‑time salaried GPs, 1 part‑time practice nurse, and 1 full‑time healthcare assistant.
