As a Senior Process Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling up novel technologies from the laboratory to pilot and production scale. If you’re passionate about climate change, materials innovation, and hands-on process engineering, this role offers a rare chance to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and optimise lab- and pilot-scale experimental systems for novel CO₂ utilisation processes.
* Lead process development activities supporting scale-up from concept through to commissioning.
* Analyse test data, identify process bottlenecks, and implement technical improvements.
* Collaborate closely with chemists, materials scientists, and cross-functional teams.
* Support preparation of technical proposals for grant funding (e.g. Innovate UK, Horizon Europe).
* Document experimental procedures, analyse results, and contribute to technical reports and publications.
What You’ll Bring
* Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Experience in early-stage process development — ideally having worked on projects from concept/design through commissioning.
* Strong technical troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
* Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary R&D environments.
* Proactive, hands-on mindset with a passion for technology that delivers real-world climate benefits.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in CO₂ capture, utilisation, or carbon reduction technologies.
* Familiarity with cement, concrete, or construction-related industrial processes.
* Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, pilot plant operation, or process simulation tools.
* Experience contributing to sustainability-focused innovation or publicly funded research projects.
