Role Overview
As part of the Engineering Leadership Team, the Chief Engineer leads vehicle restoration platforms, responsible for delivering programs and projects. This critical role requires honoring vehicle design, meeting market requirements, and collaborating with engineering leaders to innovate and integrate technological advancements, supporting our ongoing restoration plan.
The Chief Engineer works closely with matrixed engineering functions to deliver platform and program attributes on budget and on time, engaging with Design Studio, Global Supply, Operations, and Finance to optimize service, performance, and engineering efficiency. This position is located on-site near Daventry. Strictly no agencies please.
Essential Functions
Engineering and Product Development
1. Lead new product development programs within vehicle platforms to ensure on-time delivery, safety, quality, and cost targets.
2. Serve as the technical authority, ensuring delivery of all engineering attributes within the vehicle platform.
3. Collaborate with the platform Program Manager to define and control engineering costs and timing plans.
4. Develop strategies to incorporate advanced technologies into vehicle platforms.
5. Participate in developing engineering best practices and evaluate emerging technologies for product alignment.
6. Drive innovation and foster continuous improvement within the global engineering team.
7. Guide technology investments to meet market and vehicle requirements.
8. Support development of methodologies and processes for business excellence.
Organization and Delivery
1. Make decisions on engineering organization structure and external resources.
2. Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
3. Provide mentorship and professional development for the engineering team.
4. Support global operations and initiatives.
Foundational
1. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
2. Maintain a safety culture in line with company policies.
3. Support customer-facing meetings, briefs, and demos as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or relevant experience.
* 10+ years of experience in automotive engineering design, innovation, and delivery.
* Willingness and ability to travel between the US and UK for global support and product launches.
