About the Role
We're partnering with a market-leading insurer to hire a Senior Healthcare Underwriter for a newly created position within their International healthcare team.
Our client is known for underwriting complex healthcare risks, particularly large hospitals, and often as lead underwriter. Their risk management and risk engineering capabilities have earned them a strong reputation as a go-to market for complex, high-exposure risks.
This role offers a rare opportunity to join a highly respected, collaborative team, supporting a diverse and technically sophisticated portfolio across multiple geographies. You'll work cross-functionally across accounts and territories—there are no strict specialisms or silos—and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a sought-after book of business.
The Portfolio
* Substantial portfolio written across Syndicate and Company platforms
* Primarily focused on complex international healthcare risks, including:
* Large hospital systems, primary care providers, imaging centers, specialist clinics, rehabilitation establishments, telehealth platforms, charities, practitioner groups, and individual physicians & surgeons
* Main territories include UK, Ireland, Australia, Israel, Italy, South Africa, Caribbean, Canada (ex US)
* A blend of both open market and binder business - Includes primary, excess (XOL), schemes and line slip business
* Well-balanced and profitable portfolio built over for over 10 years
* Strong risk appetite for complex and emerging healthcare risks
What We're Looking For
* Experienced healthcare of Primary Casualty underwriter looking for a niche, with a track record of handling complex risks and high-stakes broker negotiations
* Confident operator who can work independently – no need for handholding
* Broker backgrounds will be considered – must have strong healthcare casualty experience
* Technically strong underwriter, with market relationships and presence
* Not seeking team leadership – this is a technical, individual contributor role
* Comfortable mentoring junior underwriters and contributing to a collegiate team culture
