Research Grants Officer (Pre Award)
Location: London-based per hour
Duration: Interim, 5 months

Job Purpose
Support the coordination and submission of a portfolio of research funding applications, collaborating closely with academics and professional services staff across departments.
Main Responsibilities
1. Manage administrative processes associated with the research grant lifecycle
2. Provide advice and assistance on interpreting funders’ terms and conditions
3. Develop research budgets alongside academic and professional services staff
4. Offer guidance on costing and pricing
5. Conduct financial assessments of application budgets ensuring compliance with TRAC and FEC methodology as well as funders’ terms and conditions
6. Own all research applications within the given portfolio
7. Manage the online submission of applications
Person Specification
8. Demonstrable experience of supporting complex research budgets/ research project lifecycle (Desirable)
9. Experience in a pre-award research support role, ideally within Higher Education
10. Understanding of grant-funded research, including grant costing and pricing concepts (FEC) and the funding environment for research both in the UK and internationally
11. Practical experience in constructing research budgets using electronic costing systems such as Worktribe
12. Excellent interpersonal and numeracy skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to non-specialists and a range of stakeholders
