Role
Configuration Engineer
Responsibilities
* Facilitates the programme to perform configuration management planning and ensure that the configuration management plan is topical to current working practices, contractual and regulatory requirements.
* Establishes and monitors configuration management metrics to support product conformity, quality and integrity.
* Promote awareness of customer and regulatory requirements for configuration management within projects and facilitate adherence to these utilising appropriate measures and remedial actions to enable compliance.
* Define, review and continuously improve Configuration Management (CM) processes and procedures. Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in CM to implement enhanced and innovative processes.
* Develops the documentation/data management toolsets and processes for the approval and control of product data.
* Enables the program design change process including baselining documentation and data. Management of engineering change orders and other forms of modifications to product requirements or designs.
* Ensure the generation of the proper configuration status accounting records, archiving and version control for product and documentation releases and traceability.
* Defines requirements for the coordination, execution and documentation of internal, supplier and customer configurations.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Degree or equivalent in engineering or a technical/craft apprenticeship in an Aerostructures environment
* 2 years work experience post qualification
* Interest in working with new technology and software systems
* Ability to manage on-going tasks and new project work as required
* Ability to prioritise work and escalate conflicting priorities
* A basic competence and understanding in the use of toolsets such as PLM / PDM, ERP & CAD
* Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and software packages
* Ability to work in accordance with company procedures and standards relating to engineering, design, health, safety and environment
* The ability to assess configuration changes for overall impact to the business
* Experience in working in accordance with Work Instructions relating to change control, data control and communication of data to suppliers
Decision Making Authority
* Recommends methods and processes to be used by others to control the flow of information through the company and sub tier suppliers.
* Authorises data release for manufacturing and suppliers.
* Analyses potential impacts for identified engineering and decides on level of review required.
* Identifies and implements improvements in performing own work.
* Identifies to higher management improvements that can benefit the business.
