I am currently working with a Local Authority in the Leicestershire area that is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer on an initial 12-month contract. This role will provide immediate support to the wider planning service, maintain performance and support colleagues, having a positive direct impact on the local community. The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years of recent experience working at a local council, so would be able to go in and hit the ground running. More specific experience that is required would be to have dealt with a range of applications, including Complex Minor applications to small-scale Major applications (the majority being residential). (A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in town planning and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is desirable, but not essential.) The role: Provide support on a variety of planning applications, from complex minors through to small-scale majors. Provide professional input to strengthen decision-making and support the smooth running of the planning service. Undertake site visits across urban and rural areas, working collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve planning issues. Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective and timely delivery of planning projects. Contract details: 12 months initially, with potential for extension. £40 - £46 per hour (flexible for the right candidate). Full-time working. Predominantly remote, with occasional office attendance and site visits. If this Senior Planning Officer role sounds of interest, please click the Apply button to submit your CV. If you would like to discuss the position in more detail before applying, I would be happy to have a confidential conversation – 07561 806 032 / stephen@park-avenue.co.uk. Please note: Not all roles are advertised. I am working with numerous public sector Local Authorities across the South region who require contractors from entry-level to Director level to join their Development Management, Planning Enforcement, and Policy teams. I would be more than happy to have a conversation about additional roles that may suit your experience.
