Youth Justice Service Worker – Dudley YJS (Part time, 18.5 Hours Per Week)
A vacancy has arisen and we are offering you the opportunity to join our team. You will be working with a team focused on providing young people an alternative approach to engagement, aiming to enable them to desist from offending and anti‑social behaviour through therapeutic interventions, including art and music. We embed a Child First approach and champion positive factors already present in their lives to achieve the best possible outcomes.
We are recruiting a Youth Justice Service Worker to support children and young people who attend Court. Ideal candidates will possess specialist knowledge of Youth Justice Court work, social work and youth justice practice in children’s services, and experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
Key Responsibilities
As a YJS Worker you will demonstrate qualities that assist the management team in providing an effective service that meets the individual needs of young people and families to reduce and prevent further offending. You will also assist with specific functions of the YJS, such as group work delivery and case work.
You must demonstrably have a pro‑active approach to engaging and supporting children and young people who are subject to out‑of‑court disposals and statutory court orders, both within the community and custodial settings, in accordance with legal requirements, national standards and local policies.
A reflective practitioner will show an efficient approach to time and task management, produce work in a timely manner, and represent the service within a variety of settings, including risk management forums.
Qualifications
You must hold a recognised Youth Justice, Social Care or Social Work qualification, or a degree‑level qualification in a related area of expertise.
Workplace Attendance
Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro‑rata) or onsite full time.
